In the magazine December 2024 / January 2025

Featuring Lambrini Girls, Nova Twins, mary in the junkyard, The Horrors and more.

Ding dong merrily on high, our Class of 2025 is here-ereeeee! Yes, we’ve cracked into our advent calendars and prepped the mulled wine, so all that’s left for 2024 is to share our picks of the best new artists around - and what an issue we’ve got in store for you!

This month we’ve been tickled pink (quite literally) rounding up the new acts that we think will define your playlists next year, with punk’s most exciting new duo Lambrini Girls taking the helm as our cover stars, ahead of the release of their fiery debut ‘Who Let The Dogs Out’ (and their sure-to-be incendiary performance at our Class of 2025 launch show). “You can really get people’s attention through art… It’s about expression and showing your frustration but it’s also such a good tool to make people turn their heads,” says vocalist and guitarist Phoebe Lunny in our cover feature, explaining the central philosophy behind the band.

“If you’ve got a message then [music] is the perfect accessible medium for it, and then if you can do well enough, you can get in front of audiences that weren’t designed for you and ruffle some feathers, and I think they’re invaluable spaces to be in. The majority of people might be pissed off, but maybe it’ll make one person question it.”

Plus, the brilliantly unapologetic pair are backed by an all killer, no filler cast of exciting names that make up the rest of our Class of 2025. In this December 2024 / January 2025 double issue, we get acquainted with buzzy newcomers Luvcat and Jacob Alon; find out what’s next for indie-pop’s new favourites Good Neighbours, Nieve Ella, and Matilda Mann; and have a frankly ridiculous day in the park with Getdown Services. Elsewhere, we dive into the fantastical world of mary in the junkyard, meet neo-soul sensations MRCY, and find Lana Lubany and Victoria Canal at the top of the pile when it comes to international names-to-know. On that evidence, we’d say that 2025’s new music quota is set to be pretty rosy…

And if that’s not enough, we’ve also got the lowdown on what the year ahead holds for some old favourites - namely, new music from Nova Twins, The Horrors, and TV On The Radio’s Tunde Adebimpe - as well as catching up with indie royalty Kim Deal for an In Deep interview, and giving the DIY verdict on some of the year’s biggest live shows.

For all that and more, just grab a copy below (a perfect stocking filler, if we do say so ourselves)!
