Featuring Kevin Abstract, Shame, Black Honey, Kae Tempest, Indigo De Souza and more.

Let’s be honest, 2025 has whizzed by and frankly, we can’t quite believe that we’re already this deep into summer. However, we can confirm that it’s been a stellar one so far! Fresh from a very memorable Glastonbury (and our last for two years, sob), festival season is already in full swing - and, with a packed release schedule for the next two months, we decided to go big and bring you a hefty double issue packed with some DIY faves to get you through ‘til Autumn.

To mark the occasion, we’re thrilled to welcome the one and only Kevin Abstract to the cover, as he ushers in his latest solo endeavour, ‘Blush’ - a record which saw the former BROCKHAMPTON member return to his home of Texas to reignite his creative flame.

“I felt very betrayed, just like a lot of friendship breakups during that time. I felt very lonely, very low,” he explains in the cover feature, nodding to his decision to return back to Houston after a particular period of upheaval. “My beard was longer than it is now – I looked like a madman. But once I arrived in Texas, I was like ‘it’s not as bad as you think’, even though I was still suffering.” Later, he adds: “I love Los Angeles, I want to die there, but I needed to find a place where I could make this album. Anytime I’m going through a traumatic moment in my life, I end up coming back here to Texas; this has happened throughout my entire career.”

Elsewhere in our bumper July/August 2025 issue, we dive into Shame’s vital fourth outing; set the world to rights with Black Honey’s Izzy B Phillips; catch up with blue sky thinker Indigo De Souza; and join Kae Tempest as he takes his boldest step yet. Plus, we also delve into the exuberant world of art-pop purveyor Jessica Winter; meet It-girl-in-waiting Alessi Rose; and find party-starters Panic Shack on the cusp of their riotous debut.

Over in this month’s Neu section - aka a one-stop shop for all things new music - we discover the unique alchemy of Brighton quartet The New Eves, chat to future hardcore heroes Humour, and hail the arrival of Aussie group Folk Bitch Trio’s first full-length. We also deliver the DIY verdict on some huge new albums (Wolf Alice, Wet Leg, CMAT, we’re looking at you), and give you the lowdown on the summer’s biggest shows, including Dua Lipa, Beyoncé, LIDO Festival and more.
