Actual proof that Rihanna is up to something music-related surfaces

Video evidence of studio activity has emerged from RiRi herself. Could it be that #R8 is on the horizon?

It has been a pretty exhausting week to be a Rihanna fan, to put it lightly. After months of maddened and slightly random speculation, proceedings reached a dramatic head as Popjustice declared that the Rihanna Threat Level had escalated to critical yesterday morning. As well as taking many nuanced factors into consideration, this mainly came as a response to a series of unnamed sources hinting at either the 24th or 25th of November as a single release date, along with vague guesses that RiRi will probably want to get at least one single out there before Christmas sets in, and reality becomes but a hazy memory.

With a state of oo-nah-nah-mergency declared, Rihanna was quick to respond. Aside from politely informing radio station Dash that “NOBODY IS TUNING IN TO LISTEN TO YOUR FUCKERY!!!!” when they claimed to have exclusive information regarding #R8, she amped up the suspense further still:

Now, when somebody says something like that, one usually presumes that there will be an X-Factor style wait of held breaths and drumming heartbeats continuing for what seems like ten years. Thankfully Rihanna is either impatient, or guided by instinct. Regardless, she saw fit to post this video on her Instagram account, titled ‘phuckin roun in da studio’, within the next hour. It’s fairly self explanatory, really.

Vital questions about what on earth Rihanna thinks she’s doing ‘phuckin roun in da studio’ at this late stage in November remain to be answered, but that issue aside, the first concrete evidence of actual musical activity from Rihanna is only going to fuel the madness in the run up to shopping calendar staple Black Friday.

In honour of the oo-nah-nah-mergancy reaching new levels of urgency, take a listen to ‘SOS’ below.
