Adele Sells More Albums Than Dire Straits
No longer is ‘Brothers In Arms’ that album everyones’ parents have.
Do your parents have ‘Brothers In Arms’? Dire Straits’ 1985 album (it’s sky blue, it’s got a shiny guitar on it - you’d definitely recognise it if you saw it) was one of the first albums to be pushed as a CD release - and nearly everyone who was interested in a) music and b) new fancy things bought it.
Adele’s only gone and sold more copies in the UK of her opus ‘21’ than it. Do your parents have ‘21’? Adele wasn’t even born when ‘Brothers In Arms’ was released.
‘21’ has now sold 4.5m copies in the UK (according to this page here on Wikipedia - about 400,000 more than the Eighties stalwarts.
How long before she’s ousted Queen’s 1981 ‘Greatest Hits’ from top spot?
