alt-J stream new single ‘Hunger of the Pine’

alt-J are streaming the lead single from their new album - it’s called ‘Hunger of the Pine’.

It’s taken from ‘This is All Yours’, which is released by the Mercury Prize winners on 22nd September via Infectious Music. The song splices some pretty striking Miley Cyrus samples (“I’m the female rebel!”) with the band’s customary, creeping croon.

The track premiered as a Hottest Record on Zane Lowe’s Radio 1 show. Speaking to Zane, Gus from the band said the song was recorded late in the album sessions. “A lot of the songs on the record were ideas we’d been batting around, but this one came spontaneously one afternoon. It was a song that was written completely post the departure of Gwil [Sainsbury].”

Last week alt-J also announced a run of UK dates taking place this autumn.
