Alt-J’s Thom Sonny Green announces solo debut album ‘High Anxiety’
He’s all shared the first preview ‘Vienna’ - not an Ultravox cover.
Late last year alt-j drummer Thom Green spoke about plans to release a solo record in the future, sharing a couple of electronic-leading mixes. Now, it looks like the productive so-and-so has finished it. He’s announced his debut solo album under his Thom Sonny Green moniker, ‘High Anxiety’
He’s also shared the first track from the record. ‘Vienna’. And, no, It’s not an Ultravox cover.
‘High Anxiety’ comes out out August 19th via Thom’s own label Sudden Records in the UK. In the US, it’s out on Canvasback. He’s set to play his first ever solo show at Latitude in a couple of weeks.
A bold departure from Thom Green’s work in Alt-J, this new material nods towards sparse, minimal landscapes instead - think Boards of Canada taking a roadtrip to a space desert. Hit play on ‘Vienna’ below.
Thom Sonny Green will play Latitude (17th-19th July) where DIY is an official media partner. Tickets are on sale now. Visit diymag.com/presents for more information.
