Neu Pick
American Enthusiasm bust through lethargy on ‘Lazy’
The Falmouth fuzz-poppers’ new single is premiering on DIY as today’s Neu Pick.
Every weekday, DIY’s new music know-it-all Neu brings you one essential new release to get obsessed with. Today’s Neu Pick comes from American Enthusiasm.
“If you think I’m lazy, then I guess you’re probably right,” howls American Enthusiasm singer / guitarist Samuel Bedford as new single ‘Lazy’ reaches its peak. In reality, the fuzzy Falmouth two-piece are anything but.
The lead-in for their second release in as many months, ‘Lazy”s languid noise-pop proves that Sam and his drumming cohort Jack Baker aren’t ones to rest on their laurels. A melodic-yet-muddy shot of bright-edged punk, it’s perfectly crafted for crammed-in singalongs on beer-stained carpets.
Get the first spin of ‘Lazy’ below. It’s taken from ‘Holy Wow’, the duo’s new 12” EP, set for a December 9th release via Specialist Subject. Pre-order it here - they play the following shows that same month:
DECEMBER
03 Bristol, The Old England
