Antony Szmierek offers up new track ‘Seminal’ featuring Los Bitchos’ Serra Petale
It’s the latest preview of his forthcoming second album, ‘The Heron’, due for release this August.

Manchester-born artist and poet Antony Szmierek has spent the past few months teasing his second album, and now, he’s given us another slice of it.
Having already shared two previous singles in form of ‘The Heron’ and ‘Chalk’, he’s now offered up a third taste in the form of the deliciously danceable ‘Seminal’. The track - which also features an appearance from Los Bitchos’ Serra Petale - gets lifted from his forthcoming new LP, ‘Decoding Birdsong’, which is set for release on 21st August via Mushroom Music/Virgin Music Group and follows his 2024 debut ‘Service Station At The End Of The Universe’..
Speaking (rather poetically, classic) about the track, Szmierek has said: “seminal (adjective):
1. attaching meaning to seemingly meaningless everyday occurrences and objects. microwave clocks, the sky, birds
2. important, life changing, monumental
“are you reading the signs from the universe correctly or are you only seeing what you want to see? an anthemic chorus screams loneliness and lack of control, but the verses remain hopeful. a push and pull that sees the whole thing collapse in on itself at the end over fizzing UKG and soaring guitar.”
Alongside the track itself, he’s also shared its accompanying video, which comes directed by frequent collaborator Zak Watson. Check it out, and dig into Antony’s upcoming live schedule - which includes dates for his his biggest UK/IE headline tour so far - below.
