Aphex Twin’s Remote Orchestra For UK Debut

He’ll control the Heritage Orchestra and Choir… remotely.

The Barbican have announced that Aphex Twin’s ‘Remote Orchestra’ is to come to the London arts venue this October.

It’ll be the first UK outing of Richard D. James’ groundbreaking concept, which sees the musician control a 28-piece string section and 12-member choir by remote control.

The concept was originally developed last year for the European Culture Congress, which took place in Poland.

‘Remote Orchestra’ will be performed at the Barbican on 10th October, alongside ‘Interactive Tuned Feedback Pendulum Array’ - based on Steve Reich’s ‘Pendulum Music’.

The performance is part of the Barbican’s Autumn Contemporary Events.
