Apple approach Taylor Swift and Florence for exclusives to rival Tidal

Apple have approached artists such as Taylor Swift and Florence and The Machine in hope of gaining exclusive streaming deals to rival Jay Z’s recently launched Tidal service.

Bloomberg reports that the Apple Beats Music department are seeking deals for a future re-boot of their service that is expected in summer 2015. Reportedly under a new moniker, and using a new app designed by Nine Inch Nails’ Trent Reznor, Apple are hoping to entice customers with a $9.99 per month subscription, compared to Tidal’s $19.99 monthly subscription for high-fidelity audio.

In February 2015, it was reported that Kanye West rejected an approach from Apple to tie him in with a “multi-million dollar deal” that would see West provide exclusive content for the Beats Music platform. Apple acquired Dr Dre’s Beats Music service in May 2014 for a reported sum of $3 billion, while Jay Z launched his Tidal service last month.
