Arcade Fire’s new album could be out by next spring, says Will Butler
Group play a handful of festival shows this summer.
Arcade Fire’s Will Butler says the band are readying a new album for next spring.
In a Reddit AMA (Ask Me Anything) session with fans - and promoting his new live album ‘Friday Night’ - Will didn’t say anything for certain, but he says the group are aiming for “next spring” with a follow-up to 2013’s ‘Reflektor’.
He added that there’s “no definite schedule,” and: “It’ll be done when it’s done.”
In the same AMA, Will talked about Kanye (“Even when he’s being an utter idiot/asshole, it’s generally in a way that makes me thing [sic] about producing something new in my own art”), David Bowie (“He was genuinely so extremely lovely and human”), macaroni cheese recipes, his favourite synths, and his favourite Arcade Fire songs (at the moment it’s between ‘Afterlife’, ‘The Well and the Lighthouse’, ‘Wake Up’).
This summer, Arcade Fire play four festival shows:
JULY
07 Bilbao, Spain, Bilbao BBK Live
09 Lisbon, Portugal, NOS Alive
22 New York, NY, Panorama Festival
23 Oro-Medonte, Canada, WayHome Festival
Arcade Fire will play Bilbao BBK Live (7th-9th July), where DIY is an official media partner. Tickets are on sale now. Visit diymag.com/presents for more information.
