About time!
Arcade Fire return with new track ‘I Give You Power’
The track features guest vocals from soul legend Mavis Staples.
Arcade Fire are finally back with a brand new track!
‘I Give You Power’ is a disco-stomper with an industrial edge, darker in tone than some of the shimmering tracks from ‘Reflektor’. On it, Win Butler sings “I give you power over me/ I gotta be free,” “I give you power/ I can take it away,” which seems like a pretty apt sentiment today of all days… It’s given even more added oomph from the vocals of soul legend and civil rights activist Mavis Staples, who growls her way through the track in response to Win’s airy vocals.
In a statement on Twitter, the band say: “It’s never been more important that we stick together & take care of each other. Love, Mavis Staples and Arcade Fire.” All proceeds from the single are going to the ACLU.
