Arcade Fire’s Richard Reed Perry To Release Solo Album
Ambitious solo work is out this June, following 2009’s ‘From Here On Out’.

multi-instrumentalist Richard Reed Perry has announced plans to release a new solo record of his own, ‘Music for Heart and Breath’. It follows 2009 LP ‘From Here On Out’.
Perry can often be found proudly banging a gigantic drum or chanting the last dying notes of ‘Wake Up’ to crowds of thousands, but his own music varies differently to the day job, with this solo work promising ‘very soft, very quiet music’ that’s intentionally, completely in sync ‘with the heart rates and breathing rates of the musicians performing it.’
A statement explains the process: ‘What you hear when this music plays is played precisely in time with someone’s quiet, internal rhythms. Brought to musical life by a handful of different ensembles. It has been a joy to create this work, and even more of a joy to have it brought to life by such a fantastic cast of musical minds.’
Parts of the record were initially debuted at ATP 2012 - watch footage below. The new album is out 9th June.
