Are Glassjaw teasing new material?
The band’s Black Friday discount code is either bloody exciting or a horrible joke.
There are few bands that can incite relative mania off the back of one poorly punctuated sentence. Glassjaw, however, are definitely one of those few.
Twelve years since their last full length release and three years since we last heard a peep in the form of the 2011 ‘Coloring Book’ EP – supposedly a teaser for an upcoming full length - they’ve set pulses racing today with, of all things, the Black Friday discount code for their online store. The code in question? “wejuststartedwritingactually”.
Murmurings of this elusive third full-length have been floating around since 2006, so the excitement is somewhat justified. Back in 2008, the band revealed that the album was being self-produced by the band’s guitarist Justin Beck – rather than Ross Robinson, as with previous releases. Back in 2007, they supposedly had “about eleven good songs”. God knows where they’ve got to.
Of course, the whole thing could just be another joke – the November 2008 demo of ‘(You Think You’re) John Fucking Lennon’ – which eventually found a home on the 2011 ‘Our Color Green’ EP - came accompanied with details of an upcoming album called ‘Don’t Ask Me’, apparently due for release in 2022. Right. Cheers guys.
