AUTOBAHN bring smoke bombs and strobes to ‘Society’ video

Leeds group capture their absorbing intensity in a new clip.

Watching AUTOBAHN live isn’t an easy experience to forget. It’s like staring fear in the eyes, finding rejoice in the dark and twisted. Abrasive and all-absoring, it’s a thrill that’s best replicated in the new video for ‘Society’, premiering on DIY.

Lifting a track from the debut ‘Dissemble’ LP (out on Tough Love), ‘Society’ finds the heady post-punk in perfect territory. Surrounded by sparklers, smoke bombs and enough strobes to make Diplo go dizzy, there’s a sense of unease threading through what looks like a bonkers party without hazard warnings.

“Live they have really good intensity and we wanted to capture that,” says director Sam Wiehl, who uses AUTOBAHN frontman Craig Johnson as his focus. “We were also interested in the movements of a small crowd - using this as an illustration and capturing the energy and interaction of being at a show.”

Catch AUTOBAHN live at London’s Sebright Arms, 1st December.
