Bastille to release ‘MTV Unplugged’ album for Record Store Day

The set was first broadcast in December 2021.

Bastille have announced that ‘Bastille: MTV Unplugged’, a one-off live album, is set to be released on limited edition vinyl as part of Record Store Day 2023. The tracks were recorded in front of an intimate crowd at Porchester Hall in London in 2021. Alongside familiar tracks such as ‘Pompeii’ and ‘Happier’ are ‘Hope for the Future’, the song the group made for the soundtrack to the Leonardo DiCaprio-produced climate change documentary ‘From Devil’s Breath’, as well as covers of ‘Killing Me Softly with His Song’ and ‘Come as You Are’. The set premiered on MTV over a year ago, but this will be the first time the tracks have been commercially available. Bastille frontman Dan Smith has said, “We’re so excited to finally release our MTV Unplugged show in full and on vinyl exclusively for Record Store Day. It was a privilege to work with some insanely talented musicians to put together these really different, special arrangements of a cross-section of our tunes.” “We added two new covers of songs that we love as a way of paying homage to the classic MTV Unplugged sessions we grew up on. All of us are massively proud of this record and the vinyl package we’ve put together for Record Store Day, which brilliantly supports the independent record stores that are so important to us massive fans of music, and to all of us who are lucky enough to work in music.” Record Store Day 2023 is on 22nd April. Bastille are also set to join Duran Duran on their upcoming North American arena tour.
