Baywaves unveil new track ‘I’m Tryna’

The Madrid band are back with another preview of their upcoming EP.

Every weekday, DIY’s new music know-it-all Neu brings you one essential new release to get obsessed with. Today’s Neu Pick comes from Baywaves.

Back in 2016, Baywaves released their debut EP ‘Only For Uz’, a four-track journey into spacey, sun drenched psych-pop. Mixed by King Gizzard guitarist Joe Walker, the EP saw the band gain acclaim across the UK, Europe and beyond and landed the band an invite to SXSW earlier this year, where they played a hypnotic set on our very own DIY stage.

Now Madrid’s Baywaves are back with another one of their self-confessed “hipnopop” tracks. The Madrid-based four piece have just released ‘I’m Tryna’, which is part of the band’s new EP ‘It’s Been Like’, due on 18th May.

It follows on from the release of other EP track ‘Still In Bed’ and showcases more of what the band do best - dreamy psych-pop that makes us wish summer would hurry up and happen already. A shimmering intro kicks off the track before vocalist/guitarist David Alonso’s voice melts into an array of rich melodies and playful riffs. Safe to say we’re ready to hear the whole EP. Listen below.
