Big Ups paint a future dystopia with 'Justice' video

New York punks Big Ups’ songs about are about seriously grim subjects. They’re not just talking about being numb, pissed off with society, bummed out and bored - the tracks on ‘Eighteen Hours of Static’ don’t fuck around. “Everybody says it’s getting better all the time but it’s bad, so bad”, runs the mantra. Thinks are fucked. Don’t get your hopes up, it claims.

In an accompanying video for ‘Justice’, this frustrated sentiment is emphasised further with a grizzly look into a future dystopia where men in suits control everything, from brains to movements, in a world with nothing but trap doors. Big Ups will probably say that sounds familiar, but they’re an angry punk band from New York - they’re supposed to say that.

This Friday, in place of Jabberwocky Big Ups and Ought play a show at London’s Old Blue Last. It’s free entry.
