Billie Marten shares new track ‘Leap Year’ ahead of forthcoming album ‘Dog Eared’

Billie Marten has gifted us with the third single from her forthcoming album, ‘Dog Eared’ which arrives on 18th July via Fiction Records. The new track, ‘Leap Year’, is the latest offering from the Yorkshire born artist, following ‘Crown’ and most recent single ‘Feeling’.

The track was born while Marten was nestled in bed on Leap Day in 2024, hence the name - and sees her delving into fictional stories instead of telling her own. “It’s about two people who can only be reunited every leap year; they have one day every four years,” she says on the track. “It’s a song about fleeting love and the pain that can bring.”

The singer said the song was originally born from an idea that came via her phone: “I picked up this app which is a digital version of an Optigan that you can get on your phone. It has pre-stored sample sounds that you can play chord by chord,” she recalls. “I stitched some buttons together and it became this song.”

The album comes alongside a colossal amount of live dates for the accomplished artist, including a support tour around the US with Tennis, a slot at the Acoustic Stage at Glastonbury Festival, and her biggest headline show to date, at London’s O2 Forum Kentish Town in November.
