Bloc Party share new in-the-studio teaser, featuring bongos

Fifth album is currently being recorded.

Bloc Party have shared the latest, most intriguing teaser of their forthcoming fifth album.

Kele Okereke and co. have been sharing in-the-studio updates on Twitter and via live Periscope streams. The new clip combines kaleidoscope imagery with bongos. You heard it - bongos.

When it comes to the new album, here’s what we know: Kele Okereke has previously gone on record to state that Bloc Party are recording their fifth studio album. “It’s sounding like nothing that we’ve ever done before but that’s what every always says,” he told Triple J. “We’ve always been fans of lots of different sorts of things and I feel that maybe in the past we tried to recreate different worlds or sounds. I feel that this record is an evolution of where we were. So far, there’s nothing really that I can compare it to in terms of other musicians where as in the past I could… This is very much our own record.”

They’ve since been confirmed for FYF Fest. Drummer Matt Tong has already left the band, and bassist Gordon Moakes has said he’s not involved in the new album. Guitarist Russell Lisack has recently been photographed in the studio.
