Bon Iver is back, confirms Justin Vernon

A third Bon Iver album looks to be in the works, after Justin Vernon confirmed that the project’s getting back into gear for a “new cycle”.

Speaking to Minneapolis station KARE 11, Vernon declared the start of a “new life of the band.” He was promoting his own Eaux Claires Music Festival, which Bon Iver is set to headline. “It’s the perfect platform,” he said. “It makes so much sense to start it here.”

Vernon has previously gone on record to state that he didn’t see himself making another Bon Iver record for quite some time, the last being a 2011 self-titled LP. “There’s only so much time you can spend digging through yourself before you become insular. I’m not in a hurry to go back to that temperature,” he told Triple J back in 2013. His label, Jagjaguwar, then clarified: “Bon Iver is not over by any means. Justin isn’t currently writing Bon Iver songs, but that doesn’t mean he won’t write them in the future. Bon Iver is off-cycle, and that is not new news.”

Eaux Claires Music and Arts Festival will take place in Vernon’s Eau Claire, Wisconsin hometown on 17th-18th July. The National, Sufjan Stevens and The Tallest Man on Earth are also set to appear.
