Bon Iver's new album samples... erm, Paolo Nutini

Over the Bank Holiday, Bon Iver shared ‘33 “GOD”’ from his forthcoming record ‘22, A Million,’ which was quite nice of him, really. Fans were quick to point out hints of a certain Scottish crooner with an affinity for new shoes, and later on, Justin Vernon confirmed it. Yep, his new album samples Paolo Nutini.

Specifically, he’s sampled Nutini’s song ‘Iron Sky’ - on the 2014 album ‘Caustic Love’. Nutini’s lyric “we find God and religions,” appears in the bridge of ‘33 “GOD”’. Justin Vernon must’ve had a ‘Pencil Full of Lead’ when he wrote that line. Ahem. We’ll show ourselves out.

As a a Jagjaguwar rep confirms, Lonnie Holley’s ‘All Rendered Truth,’ is also sampled on the track. According to Vernon, it also samples Sharon Van Etten.

‘22, A Million’ comes out on 30th September, and already steals the title for lyric of the year with choice line “I was sleeping in a stable, mate.”
