Bon Iver performs two new songs at Eaux Claires festival

The tracks are the first signs of new material since 2011’s self-titled album.

Last night, Bon Iver played a headline set at his and The National’s own festival, Eaux Claires in Wisconsin, and surprised everyone with performances of new material - the first to emerge since 2011’s self-titled record.

In a performance that included tracks from all three of Justin Vernon’s releases, along with a pair of rarities, the two new tracks came towards the end of the set.

Vernon’s recent comments about “taking it really slow” with new Bon Iver material make the performances even more surprising, yet they still give no real hints of a timeframe in which new recorded material may land.

The first night of the Eaux Claires festival was headlined by The National, who were joined on stage for their performance by Vernon and Sufjan Stevens.
