Brand New’s Jesse Lacey: “We’re done”
The Brand New frontman seemed to suggest that the band’s current US tour would be their last on its opening night.
It’s quite possibly the longest running break-up in rock, but Brand New frontman Jesse Lacey may have confirmed his band’s split.
“We’re done,” he stated on the first night of their current US tour, which took place last night (28th June) in Salt Lake City. “Oh yeah, we’re done, and it makes nights like this all the more special so thanks for being here,” he continued, before diving straight into ‘Sowing Season (Yeah)’ and its surprisingly fitting opening line - “Losing all my friends.”
Watch footage of the ‘announcement’ of sorts below.
There’s every chance he could be having us on, but signs have pointed to an impeding split for the band for a while now - Jesse hinted at something similar on stage at the tail end of last year. They even recently released a t-shirt with their own death-date on it, pointing to 2018 as the year Brand New will cease to exist. Sad stuff.
