Hey, DW!
Chance the Rapper, Jessie Ware, Wyclef Jean cover ‘Arthur’ theme tune
Chicago rapper invites friends to “listen to the rhythm, the rhythm of the street” for a special cover.
Chicago’s Chance the Rapper and his The Social Experiment band seem to have a personal favourite TV show. The 21-year-old has been fledging his own take on ‘Arthur’’s theme tune at recent gigs, and now he’s taken that routine to the studio with a little help from his friends.
For ‘Wonderful Everyday: Arthur’, he’s joined by Wyclef Jean, Jessie Ware, Elle Varner, Eryn Allen Kane, The O’my’s, Peteer Cottontale, Donnie Trumpet, plus Francis & The Lights for a big get-together where they “listen to the rhythm / the rhythm of the street.”
It might sound like a pointless time-killer on paper, but on record it’s a smile-inducing, oddly epic rendition of a childhood favourite. And remember - having fun isn’t hard, when you’ve got a library card.
The track was recorded ahead of this year’s Lollapalooza festival. It’s a free download. Chance plays his home city fest on Sunday at 8:45 PM (CST).
