Church Party seize the initiative on ‘How Can U Know’
Punchy pop-rock riot is streaming first on DIY as today’s Neu Pick.

Every weekday, DIY’s new music know-it-all Neu brings you one essential new release to get obsessed with. Today’s Neu Pick comes from Church Party.
For all the worth invested in making ‘very srs art’ by the musical bores of the world, sometimes there’s a lot more to be said for just rocking the fuck out. Manchester group Church Party know this better than most, and ‘How Can U Know?’ is evidence of just how perfectly primed that approach can be.
A rollicking, punchy riot of fuzzed-up, blown-out guitars and instant anthem status, it’s as addictive a thrashing as you’re likely to find all year. “We spelt it U cos of Prince and memes I guess,” explains the band’s frontman Tom Stewart of their deep and complex artistic process. “It’s a song about paranoia and jealousy in relationships, the second verse being a vague apology to my ex-girlfriend.”
Get gut-punched by ‘How Can U Know?’ below. Church Party bring the riot to Manchester’s Fallow Cafe this Saturday - more info on that is right here.
Featuring Yard Act, Death Cab For Cutie, Graham Coxon, Maisie Peters and more.
