Chvrches air ‘Dead Air’ song, taken from the new ‘Hunger Games’ soundtrack

Lorde-curated ‘Mockingjay Part I’ soundtrack also includes Charli XCX and Raury.

CHVRCHES have unveiled the studio version of ‘Dead Air’, a track appearing on the soundtrack for ‘The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part I’.

New Zealand sensation Lorde is curating the soundtrack, which is also set to feature Charli XCX, Raury, The Chemical Brothers and Bat For Lashes. Charli’s contribution, ‘Kingdom’, has Duran Duran’s Simon Le Bon on guest vocals.

‘Dead Air’ was initially debuted under the title ‘Richard Pryor’ during CHVRCHES’ final run of shows in the U.S. in 2014. Its studio version is tense and bittersweet, following on from 2013 debut ‘In The Bones of What You Believe’. A chorus of “We are all just dead air” isn’t exactly the band’s most uplifting, but it’s up there as one of the catchiest they’ve penned.

Last month, another new CHVRCHES song emerged in the form of ‘Get Away’, which features on the recently unveiled Zane Lowe re-score of Ryan Gosling film ‘Drive’.
