Lucia & The Best Boys join forces with Lauren Mayberry for life-affirming comeback single ‘Lonely Girl’
It’s a good day to be Scottish.

Lucia & The Best Boys have returned with their first new music in three years - a euphoric alt-pop offering that features none other than CHVRCHES frontwoman turned solo star (and fellow Scot) Lauren Mayberry.
Titled ‘Lonely Girl’, the new track follows the band’s 2023 debut album ‘Burning Castles’, and is a poignant exploration of Lucia Fairfull’s rural Scottish adolescence, and the joy of finding friendship which makes you feel truly understood.
“’Lonely Girl’ is a song about finding a sense of belonging in both people and place,” she has reflected. “As a teen who wanted to make music, I felt isolated in many ways and felt like I needed to reach far beyond my everyday surroundings for inspiration. But by the passing of time, strengthening my connection with the land and finding those rare friendships that really uplift, nurture and allow you to be yourself, I have never felt more at home.”
It’s all the more powerful, then, that Lauren’s voice also features on the track, as someone who understands exactly what it’s like to feel that they’re something of a musical outsider. Speaking about their collaboration, she has enthused: “Lucia has such a singular vision and really knows what she wants to create, and that’s a really inspiring energy to be around. Plus for once I didn’t have to alter my accent to blend in with another singer — our Celtic vowel sounds were perfectly aligned.”
