Dream team:
Courtney Barnett and Kurt Vile are working together
Newmarket Studios have confirmed they’re working on a collaborative compilation.
Two modern day masters of intelligent indie-rock working
together? Go on then.
Speculation surrounding whether Aussie fave Courtney Barnett
and Philadelphia singer-songwriter Kurt Vile are actually working together or
not has been floating around since the pair starting sharing photos of each
other. Well, Australia’s Newmarket Studio might have accidentally spilled the
beans.
In their own Instagram post, the Studio captured Courtney,
Kurt and producer Callum John Barter all together, but more importantly they said
it had been a “fun week” and that the “collaboration is just the best thing
ever.” Not only that, but the Newmarket website has also revealed that the pair
are working on a “forthcoming compilation” and that it’s already been “recorded”
(for proof, have a look at the ‘About Us’ section).
But what does a “compilation” actually mean? Is it a full-blown
album or just an EP? Guess we’ll just have to wait and see…
