We have lift-off
Courtney Barnett’s got a star-studded new video for ‘Elevator Operator’
Wes Anderson vibes and a Sleater-Kinney cameo - this video is everything.

Courtney Barnett has shared her video for ‘Elevator Operator’ and obviously it’s all kinds of ace. Opening with an Oscar-winning acting segment from none other than Sleater-bloody-Kinney (!!!) the short follows C-Barnz through a working day manning the lifts. Everyone from soccer mascots and dancing nuns, to farmers and magicians stop by for a ride.
Along with Sleater-Kinney, the ‘Elevator Operator’ video stars a whole bunch of Barnett’s mates from the Melbourne music scene, including Izzi Goldman, Batpiss, Jen Cloher, and Milk! Records signee Fraser A. Gorman. Wilco’s Jeff Tweedy, The Drones, Tim Rogers and Paul Kelly also appear. Actually, it stars loads of people, to be honest.
Sunny Leunig - the son of the famous Aussie cartoonist Michael Leunig - directed the video. And, yep, you guessed it. Both of them also make cameos.
Courtney Barnett released her brilliant debut album ‘Sometimes I Sit and Think and Sometimes I Just Sit’in 2015.
