Later this evening, Welsh quintet Cut Ribbons will be heading to the Queen of Hoxton for the third round of Curtain Call, DIY’s new Curtain Road-based endeavour alongside Jägermeister. As part of Curtain Call, the band were invited along to lay down a new track at Strongroom Studio, on - you guessed it - Curtain Road itself, and now, you can have a first listen to their hard work. Set to be included in the band’s live set this evening, their newest offering comes titled ‘Helen Of Troy’ and is the first material to follow on from their debut album ‘We Want To Watch Something We Loved Burn’. Recorded with Steph Marziano, the track’s a brilliantly breezy offering, which also boasts moments of gentleness. “We wanted make something with a sense of adventure,” the band have said, of their new track, “and maybe a little bit more abrasive than before. The lyric writing was approached differently this time too. The first album, as fun as it was to make, was a bit of a drawn out process. This time around we’re going to trust our instincts a bit more and the whole thing will be a bit more unrestrained.” Cut Ribbons play at the Queen of Hoxton tonight (Wednesday 23rd March) with Tall Ships and Sports Team.
