Death Cab For Cutie perform two ‘Kintsugi’ tracks in 6music session
The band’s Ben Gibbard visited Lauren Laverne to perform the songs.
Death Cab For Cutie kicked off their world tour with three sold out shows in London earlier this week, and ahead of their final show, the band’s Ben Gibbard visited BBC 6 music to perform a two-track acoustic session.
Joining Lauren Laverne in the studio yesterday (Wednesday 10th June), Gibbard opened up to her about how the band’s new tracks are translating live, before explaining the thought process behind the title of the album and admitting he was yet to own any actual kintsugi, along with speaking about the band’s new members, and the departure of former guitarist Chris Walla.
Gibbard then performed stripped back, acoustic renditions of two ‘Kintsugi’ cuts, ‘The Ghosts of Beverly Drive’ and ‘Black Sun’, which you can listen to below.
Death Cab For Cutie will be performing at this year’s Glastonbury Festival, before returning to the UK and Europe later this year for a full UK tour. Those dates are as follows.
