DIY Presents Tour 2014: Palace discuss expectation and the challenge of daytime gigs

Second on the DIY all dayer bill, four-piece Palace arrive as one of the day’s most hotly-tipped.

DIY Presents Tour 2014: Palace discuss expectation and the challenge of daytime gigs

Palace landed at the DIY all-dayer following two sold out gigs in London, demand following their every move.

Leo Wyndham and co. also recently supported Jamie T on his comeback London show, and their appearance at the Laundry comes with a heap of expectation. That might explain why the four of them choose to avoid over-doing it in the party stakes.

“I think we were exhausted in the build up to those two shows, they felt such a long time coming, all the adrenaline,” says Wyndham of the St. Pancras Old Church shows. “Then after it just felt like a crash, I just went to sleep for a year and a half.”

They arrive at The Laundry in good spirits. “We really launched ourselves out there,” Wyndham says of the sold out gigs. “It was completely ridiculous. It was insane, such a special thing. It’s been a real launching pad, those two shows I think, into getting us out there and generating interest and hype form people.”

Asked whether they were sticking around for the rest of the all-dayer, Wyndham said: “I want to see Bloody Knees, who are playing after us. They’re really good, I like them. Flyte as well. Their harmonies are pretty mega.”
