dodie announces new album ‘Not For Lack Of Trying’

dodie has confirmed details of a second full-length solo album.

The musician - who is also part of indie-pop supergroup FIZZ - will release ‘Not For Lack Of Trying’, the follow-up to 2021 debut ‘Build A Problem’ (and FIZZ’s 2023 ‘The Secret To Life’) on 3rd October.

She’s also shared a new track, ‘I Feel Bad For You, Dave’. dodie says it’s “about the ego of people who feel as though they lack power, so try to gain it in ways that ironically have the opposite effect. We all know a Dave!”

It was written after witnessing the racist abuse suffered by a friend. “I did not know what to do - I wanted to just drag them down, I wanted to reply to them and make videos about them. And I was like, ‘OK, I can’t do any of that, so I’ll write a song.’”

The track listing for ‘Not For Lack Of Trying’ is:
1. I’M FINE
2. Smart Girl
3. Darling, Angel, Baby
4. Hold Fire
5. Tall Kids
6. I Feel Bad For You, Dave
7. Now
8. The List
9. Different
10. The End
11. The Answer
12. Not For Lack of Trying
