Drahla bring the menace with 'Fictional Decision'

Every weekday, DIY’s new music know-it-all Neu brings you one essential new release to get obsessed with. Today’s Neu Pick comes from Drahla.

Leeds three-piece Drahla thud and ring with the eery echoes of post-punk “I am the passage, I am the passage, between you and something,” chants Luciel Brown with calculated menace, over sparse, skeletal foundations. There’s a distinct whiff of New York’s clattering garage rockers Parquet Courts to ‘Fictional Decision’.

Drahla’s track is produced by fellow Leeds inhabitant, Hookworms frontman, and Suburban Home production whizz MJ. It also comes with a fuzzed-up b-side ‘Dog Collar Guillotine’.

“‘Fictional Decision’ speaks in guise, Drahla tell DIY, “stating the ideas of faith and the trust one person can instil in another; lifestyle decisions that are based on belief, the acts of confession and absolution of sin.”

Well, well well. Listen to ‘Fictional Decision’ - today’s Neu Pick - below.
