Drake reportedly sued over role in ‘Homecoming’ film

Distribution company SpectiCast is said to have sued the rapper.

Yesterday it was reported that Drake was facing libel action over a dispute regarding the ‘Drake’s Homecoming: The Lost Footage’ documentary. Compiling footage from a 2009 concert, Drake is said to have given his impression for filming at the time, but he’s since distanced himself from the film, days ahead of release.

The movie’s producers went on record saying they were considering suing the rapper. Now TMZ is reporting that distribution company SpectiCast has done just that.

Previously, a representative for OVO Fest told The LA Times: “Obviously Drake and OVO only put out music and video/film that is of the highest quality for their brand and what their fans have come to expect, and do not want any fans to buy into something that has not come from them.”

Those behind the film have since hit out against Drake’s claims. “I think he thought nothing was going to happen with the film,” says Mark Berry, co-producer of the film and chairman of Attack Media. Drake is reported to have signed a deal in 2009 with Serious Entertainment, agreeing to the concert’s filming for a $15,000 fee.
