Neu Pick
Drones Club glimmer amongst grit on ‘Shining Path’
Contortionist group continue to melt noise together on their latest track.
Every weekday, DIY’s new music know-it-all Neu brings you one essential new release to get obsessed with. Today’s Neu Pick comes from Drones Club.
Carving their own route through the muck and dirt, Drones Club have taken left turns at every junction to date. On ‘Shining Path’, their dazzling wares take a new form - an attempt to entice you down the darkened alleyways they call home.
“Take the shining path,” comes the gargled demand from beneath a blanket of gravel-dusted synths and industrial rhythm. Twisting, turning and churning up bile from its sugar-filled stomach, it’s another mind-boggling reinvention from the mysterious-as-you-like group - one that takes pop’s tired tropes and Frankensteins them into haunting new structures.
Spin ‘Shining Path’ below - they play Kamio in London’s Shoreditch on September 23rd.
