Emily Haines unveils new track ‘Lightning Strikes’
Metric singer encourages young females through music.
In her first solo track for over seven years, Emily Haines has penned a galvanising indie synth pop number aimed at inspiring a new generation of female engineers.
The track and accompanying video were made in collaboration with GoldieBlox, a toy company that shuns the stereotypes and aims to give young girls the confidence they need when it comes to problem-solving.
The animated music video depicts a young female derby racer grappling with setbacks but ultimately overcoming the problems with her race-day car. “Goldie knows that any ‘failed’ experiment is really just one step closer to that ‘a-ha’ moment… the moment when lighting strikes, and the solution becomes clear,” reads a blurb.
