Faith No More reveal first new material in 17 years, ‘Motherfucker’

The track will be part of a special Record Store Day’s Black Friday 7” release.

Faith No More have released their first new material in 17 years.

The reunited band, who have been working on an album (their first since 1997) due for April 2015, will release a 7” for Record Store Day’s Black Friday event stateside. The track featured, ‘Motherfucker’, is streaming online now.

A digital release for the single will follow on December 9th.

In a statement to Rolling Stone, keyboard player Roddy Bottum explained: “It feels apt that the first track we’re releasing is ‘Motherfucker,’ a song about accountability. Basically we’ve created, recorded and mixed a new body of work by ourselves and we’re releasing it on our own label. It’s a huge deal for us to only have ourselves to answer to at this point in our career and the song is about that, where the buck stops via the basic imagery of foie gras production, bondage… y’know, stuff like that.”

Faith No More are set to tour in 2015, including a recently revealed appearance at Download Festival on June 13th.
