Fall Out Boy and Mark Ronson are neck-and-neck in the UK album charts

Midweek figures state there’s just 1,500 copies between the two acts.

Fall Out Boy and Mark Ronson are in the midst of a chart battle. Midweek figures from the Official Charts Company show that the former’s ‘American Beauty / American Psycho’ LP is outselling Ronson’s ‘Uptown Special’ by 1,500 copies.

Ronson’s fourth studio album is led with the ‘Uptown Funk’ single, which is set to retain its number 1 spot in the singles chart, with Meghan Trainor’s ‘Lips Are Movin’ a close second.

Other new entries in the album chart come from Enter Shikari (Number 3 for ‘The Mindsweep’), Belle & Sebastian (Number 9 for ‘Girls at Peacetime Want to Dance’), The Decemberists (Number 10 with ‘What A Beautiful World, What A Terrible World’) and Marilyn Manson (Number 11 with ‘The Pale Emperor’. Joey Badass, Sleater-Kinney and Funeral For A Friend also feature in the top 40.

UK album chart, midweek top five:

2. Mark Ronson - Uptown Special
3. Enter Shikari - The Mindsweep
4. Ed Sheeran - X
5. Sam Smith - In The Lonely Hour
