FAMY announce debut album, ‘We Fam Econo’, and accompanying fanzine

FAMY will release their debut album on 8th September through Transgressive Records. Titled ‘We Fam Econo’, it features both forthcoming single ‘Ava’, the video for which the band premiered last month, and previous single ‘Donkey’.

Produced by Radio 1 Maida Vale live engineer Miti Adhikari, the album was recorded in a working church in Wales. “Ten days in a chapel. That summer was really horrible,” explains the band’s Bruce Yates. “But those ten days, we arrived at the chapel, set up and suddenly the sun came out. It was perfectly blue, beautiful.”

Pre-orders of ‘We Fam Econo’ will be accompanied by a fanzine. “It’s good to document things. Our first single came on without great triumph, just when you express yourself things make better sense. And besides, losing a father or girlfriend and desperately loving your friends are excuses enough for art. Or documentary.”

The fanzine features visual documentation of the album’s creation by Mino Tristovskij, and words with both the record’s producer Miti Adhikari, and the band’s artist and collaborator, Robert Charles Dunahay. “Volume 1 is a scrapbook of the history of FAMY leading up to our debut LP. We wanted to present ourselves in a way no-one else can.”

A UK tour will follow the release, and this month’s one-off London date, kicking off at the Sunflower Lounge in Birmingham on 22nd September, and continuing on through Bristol, Brighton, Manchester, Middlesbrough and Cambridge. The full details are as follows:
