Father John Misty covers anti-Trump song ‘Trump’s Private Pilot’
Josh Tillman strikes again with an impromptu take on Tim Heidecker’s song.
With the U.S. presidential election taking place later this week, musicians have started getting political left right and centre. Father John Misty’s got a bit of a rep for his impromptu Soundcloud uploads already, and now he’s added to his collection with a cover of anti-Donald Trump song ‘Trump’s Private Pilot’.
The song was originally written in the run-up to the Republican National Convention, by Tim Heidecker of the sketch show Tim & Eric. Heidecker shared the song yesterday, saying “my humor tends to skew dark, so I imagined a kamikaze style situation, where the pilot sacrifices himself for the sake of the country. I’ve performed it live a few times, and let me tell you: there’s a real cathartic satisfaction in singing the last few lines, and I always choke up a bit.”
Now, Josh Tillman’s done a lovely cover of aforementioned song. Listen to it below, and read the DIY interview with Father John here.
