Father John Misty shares details of sixth album ‘Mahashmashana’
He’s also unveiled its latest single - a seven-minute epic entitled ‘Screamland’.

Father John Misty has announced that his next album will be released on 22nd November (via Bella Union / Sub Pop), and will be entitled ‘Mahashmashana’.
The follow up to 2022’s ‘Chloë and The Next 20th Century’, the forthcoming record will be his sixth studio LP, and takes its name from a Sanskrit word meaning a great cemetery, or cremation ground.
Among its eight tracks will be recent single ‘I Guess Time Makes Fools Of Us All’ and its just-dropped successor ‘Screamland’ - a bombastic, epic seven-minute number that features Low’s Alan Sparhawk on guitar and a sweeping string arrangement courtesy of past collaborator Drew Erikson (who also co-produced ‘Mahashmashana’, alongside FJM himself and Jonathan Wilson).
You can check out the video for the new track - which director Estefania Kröl has described as “a visual journey through the depths of ‘Screamland,’ capturing the essence of both the music and the artists” - below.
