Firestations dream away the days on ‘Build A Building’

The London five-piece’s new video is today’s Neu Pick.

Every weekday, DIY’s new music know-it-all Neu brings you one essential new release to get obsessed with. Today’s Neu Pick comes from Firestations.

The days are getting bloody cold recently, but the new cut from London five-piece Firestations - the video for which is premiering today as our Neu Pick - is as warming as an open fire, a ton of blankets and a pair of those gloves that don’t have any fingers but fold over the top nicely, you know.

‘Build A Building’ is the first preview of the band’s new LP ‘The Year Dot’, due early next year via Scottish label Lost Map. It’s a breezy, joyful skip through the catchiest corners of indie-pop.

The track’s animated video was created by Emily Scaife, and skips through four and a half minutes with the same effortless charm as the track.

“We spent a lot of time obsessing over making it a really absorbing listen,” the band’s Mike Cranny says in a press release.“It’s a distillation of dreaming away the days on the outskirts, flickering between dead-end admin jobs, depression, writing lyrics on my phone, running through local woods, recording drums in industrial units, periods of hopelessness and moments of joy.”

‘The Year Dot’ is due early next year. Stream ‘Build A Building’ below.
