Fontaines DC drop surprise new track ‘It’s Amazing To Be Young’
Its our first taste of new music from the Irish favourites since last year’s triumphant fourth outing, ‘Romance’.

Fontaines DC are back, having unveiled new single ‘It’s Amazing To Be Young’ just two days after teasing an incoming release across their social media.
The ever-prolific Dublin quintet - and former DIY cover stars - dropped their fourth album ‘Romance’ last Summer, and proceeded to spend the rest of 2024 performing a lap of honour around festivals and on tour, cementing their position as the year’s greatest live band.
And now, they’re ensuring that this acclaim continues well into 2025, too: much like ‘Romance’ cut ‘Favourite’, ‘It’s Amazing To Be Young’ is a moving, nostalgia-invoking anthem that you can already imagine echoing around a festival field, distilling the essence of ’80s indie icons like The Cure and The Smiths into a number that feels immediately familiar, and yet undeniably Fontaines.
“’It’s Amazing To Be Young’ is a song that was written in the presence of a newborn child - Carlos’ child,” the band have shared, writing during the YouTube premiere of the track’s video. “It sounded more like a lullaby or a music box then, but with the same lyric- “it’s amazing to be young”.
“The feeling of hope a child can give is profound and moving, especially for young men like us. That sense of wanting to create a world for them to grow up in happily. It’s a feeling that fights against the cynicism that can often overtake us in the modern world. So we wanted to declare which side we were on - it really is amazing to be young.
“We are still free, and want to make that feeling spread. We want to protect it for the others around us, and maybe in doing that, can also help protect it for ourselves.”
‘It’s Amazing To Be Young’ will be released on limited edition 7“ vinyl on 18th April 2025, alongside another a new track entitled ‘Before You I Just Forget’.
