Foo Fighters announce indefinite hiatus
Turns out last night’s big news wasn’t an update on Dave Grohl’s broken leg.
Foo Fighters made that ‘big announcement’ of theirs last night, and no, it wasn’t yet another an update on Dave Grohl’s broken leg. The band are set to go on hiatus, but they’re not breaking up.
Foo Fighters announced the hiatus with their tongues firmly in cheek, sharing a spoof video. In said video, Foo’s frontman Dave Grohl talks to producer Butch Vig about going solo and pursuing a “hip” new electronic direction, while the rest of his band audition replacements; Justin Bieber, Billy Corgan and Phil Collins “the original drummer comes out front” are all suggested as alternatives. Also, breaking news - Dave Grohl is STANDING UP while he plays the keyboard. Looks like that dastardly leg of his is going to be ok.
Artisan News also published an interview with the band’s Taylor Hawkins filmed on January 16th, where he clarifies that the band are going on hiatus, or rather, ihateus. “We’re on an indefinite ihateus,” Hawkins explained. “Not because we don’t love each other, or don’t want to make music together … We did so much in the last five or six years — we as a band could go into the studio tomorrow and have just as much fun as we ever had, but I think the world needs a break from us for a little while.”
