FRIGS capture fear and horror on ‘Chest’ and ‘Trashyard’

Toronto group have shared two ghoulish, pitch-black tracks.

Every weekday, DIY’s new music know-it-all Neu brings you one essential new release to get obsessed with. Today’s Neu Pick comes from FRIGS.

Earlier this year, Toronto four-piece FRIGS gave post-punk a dizzying slant with their ‘Slush’ EP. And the group are now exploring further depths to their tense, dark routine with two new tracks.

‘Chest’ and its accompanying b-side ‘Trashyard’, both streaming below, inhabit the same pitch-black space. Bria’s vocals sound both commanding and like they’re constantly caught up in a riptide. Around her, tightly-wound stabs of guitar survey the scene. ‘Trashyard’ is more strung-out and exploratory, while ‘Chest’ provides the kind of anxiety-ridden urgency that suits the band best.

Stream both tracks below FRIGS’ upcoming tour dates.
