Neu Pick
Ginger Snaps cracks open a psych-pop storm with ‘Phat Kids’
Baggy-as-you-like pop hit’s new video is streaming first on DIY as today’s Neu Pick.

Every weekday, DIY’s new music know-it-all Neu brings you one essential new release to get obsessed with. Today’s Neu Pick comes from Ginger Snaps.
Baggier than a vintage shop’s sale rail and laced in all manner of swirling psych, Ginger Snaps’ breakbeat pop is as flexible as they come. On ‘Phat Kids’, he’s embracing the gluttony of jam-packing that pop template with all manner of warped new tricks.
The track’s brand new video reflects that ‘Beck gone wild’ aesthetic perfectly - all hammered-home explosions of colour and tripped-out dancing, it finds Jay Brook (who spends his other hours fronting Alcopop!-signed indie-popped OhBoy!) throwing everything in the toy-box out of the pram, only to collect it all back up again which a beaming grin.
Get the first spin of ‘Phat Kids” day-glo video below - the single’s out now through Jay’s own label, Copper Top Records.
Featuring Yard Act, Death Cab For Cutie, Graham Coxon, Maisie Peters and more.
