Ginger (Swim Deep’s Austin Williams) releases new EP
‘Baby It’s War Outside’ is exactly what you think it is. Kind of.
Last month Swim Deep’s Austin Williams shared a solo track under the name Ginger, a cover of Sinead O’Connor’s ‘Black Boys on Mopeds’.
The accompanying video showed Ginger performing in a room decorated with a heck of a lot of tinsel and fairy lights. So, can you guess the theme of new EP ‘Baby It’s War Outside’? That’s right, it’s Christmaaaas!
As well as his cover of ‘Black Boys on Mopeds’, the collection features three other festive tunes to get you in the mood for Santa’s arrival. There’s no ‘Mistletoe and Wine’ here though. Instead we’ve got a Paul McCartney-riffing tune in the shape of ‘Comin Up For Christmas’ and a lilting, sombre ode to ‘Xmas at Spoons.’ There’s even something of a feminist Christmas anthem in ‘Don’t Shave For Me Mrs Claus’. About time!
Eat a mince pie and have a listen to ‘Baby It’s War Outside’ below.
