Girl Band cover Beat Happening’s ‘I Love You’ for new single
Dublin fiends shout and thrash their way through a new version.
Dublin-based fiends Girl Band aren’t shy of a good cover. A nine-minute, ferocious edit of Blawan landed them their big break, in some senses, in that it introduced a band hellbent on thrashing their way into eternity. That’s continuing with ‘I Love You’, their new take on a Beat Happening original.
Dara Kiely fronts the thing with his traditionally abrupt, fevered, monotonous cries. This guy could list off his weekly shopping and it’s sound like a forthright threat.
